About me

My name is Martin Theodorou, and I am a gap-year student, having recently completed my A-levels in Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and History. As part of my gap year, I wanted to do something for charity, and I was also aware of the fact that, despite being fairly well travelled for an 18 year old, I have done little travelling in Britain. This is what led me to decide on cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats.

What makes me believe that I can do it, despite not owning a bike at the time I decided to undertake the end to end journey, is the fact that I am determined, and love a challenge. The photo's on this page go someway to showing that - for instance, I have ridden horses on the Welsh National Team on four occaisions, in 2002 becoming the youngest person to do so at the time. I have also been on an expedition to Borneo, which included climbing the 4095 meter Mount Kinabalu, and having some fun with a waterfall...

Some of my other interests include skiing and snowboarding - the photo on the right was taken after four days of snowboarding lessons, and I have recently taken up kart racing, which proved quite a challenge, as the costs involved with even the cheapest form of motorsport are prohibitive, particularly for a student.

I hope that you also believe that I am up to the task, and as such will choose to sponsor me, and by doing so you will be raising money to support two fantastic charities.
